Kuwait City: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs issued a statement announcing the suspension of some imams' and muezzins' salaries, citing the Minister of Justice, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, and Minister of State for Promoting Integrity Affairs Abdulaziz Al-directives Majed's to address the issue of disbursing salaries to some non-Kuwaiti imams and muezzins. However, the Awqaf Ministry stated that it is working with the Financial Controllers Authority to resolve this issue and protect the rights of its employees.
