OVERCROWDING OF DOMESTIC WORKERS IN EMBASSIES IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: Domestic labor affairs expert Bassam Al Shammari said that Kuwait is again witnessing the return to the phenomenon of overcrowding of domestic workers in the embassies of various countries in the country. The embassy residence of one of the countries exporting domestic workers to Kuwait is full of female workers.

Reasons include employers registering reports of absconding or disputes with sponsors and labor disputes. The reason for the re-emergence of this crisis is the problems with the role assigned to the Labor Accommodation Center by the Manpower Protection Sector in the Authority. This was to quickly prevent disputes between women workers and their employers.

This has prompted some embassies to issue circulars asking local recruitment companies or offices not to approve transactions involving more than five domestic workers. He pointed out that new women workers would be reluctant to come because they would feel insecure in the face of increasing labor disputes.
