Kuwait City: Fares Al-Otaibi, Essa Al-Kandari, Majed Al-Mutairi, Thamer Al-Suwait, and Khalid Al-Otaibi have introduced legislation to amend Decree No. 14/1992 on social allowances, pensions, and public assistance.

According to the bill, national workers covered by civil service regulations will be granted a social allowance equal to 35% of the salary allocated for their job degree, while those covered by private sector regulations will be granted a regular increment equal to 35% of their basic salary, which cannot exceed the amount granted to those covered by civil service regulations. In addition, the children allowance for nationals working in the public sector has been increased from KD50 to KD75 per child.

MP Muhammad Hayef Al-Mutairi proposed organising social work in schools and nurseries. It requires the establishment of a social worker department in every school, religious institute, and nursery. An experienced social worker will chair the department, and the necessary number of social workers will be appointed. It will create a file for each student to keep track of psychological and behavioural observations.
