RAILWAY PROJECT STILL IN INITAL STAGES IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: The procurement committee in the Ministry of Public Works reportedly agreed to move forward with the procedures for submitting a project for in-depth study and design work and preparing the railway tender documents (first phase) at a cost of one million dinars, according to knowledgeable sources in the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART).


They clarified that the Ministry of Finance had previously given PART the go-ahead to begin the research, preliminary design, and preparation of railway tender documents (first phase), as long as it stayed within the bounds of the estimates contained in PART's draught budget for the fiscal year 2022–2023. The Ministry of Finance stipulated, with its approval, that the awarding and contracting procedures should not take place before the issuance of a law tying the authority’s budget for the said fiscal year.
