With the arrival of Ramadan, the UAE Police have issued a warning against begging scams, emphasizing the importance of making donations only through officially recognized charities. Authorities highlighted the risks associated with unregulated donations and urged residents to report instances of begging. In an awareness campaign shared on social media, Abu Dhabi Police stressed that public cooperation is crucial in maintaining security and supporting those in need through proper channels.

Dubai Police also reiterated their strict stance on begging, revealing that 384 individuals were arrested in 2024 alone, with over 2,000 cases recorded in the past five years. The police clarified that organized begging networks often exploit the generosity of the public during Ramadan. The law imposes severe penalties, including fines of up to Dh500,000 and imprisonment, for those involved in unauthorized solicitation or donation collection.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to begging or illegal fundraising. The UAE strictly enforces anti-begging laws to maintain public order and ensure that charitable contributions genuinely reach those in need through legal and regulated means.
