The latest statistical data from the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) for 2024 highlights a significant population concentration in five key regions of Kuwait: Salmiya, Farwaniya, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Hawalli, and Mahboula. Salmiya emerged as the most densely populated area, with 321,190 residents, followed by Farwaniya, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Hawalli, and Mahboula, which has a population of 218,153.
Kuwait's total population reached 4.9 million last year. The ratio of males to females among Kuwaitis remains balanced at 49% male and 51% female. However, among expatriates, the gender gap is much wider, with males making up 66% and females 34%.
The data also shows that 17% of the total population is under 15 years old, 80% falls within the 15-64 age group, and 3% is 65 and older. Kuwaitis constitute 31% of the total population, while the largest expatriate groups are Indians (20%) and Egyptians (13%).
In the labor market, the total workforce in Kuwait reached 2,247,029, with 517,022 employees (23%) in the public sector and 1,730,007 (77%) in the private sector. Kuwaitis dominate the government workforce at 77.52%, while the largest non-Kuwaiti groups are Egyptians (7.25%) and Indians (4.42%). In the private sector, Indians hold the highest share at 31.1%, followed by Egyptians at 25.4%, while Kuwaitis account for just 4.1%.
