Dubai: Speeding is one of the primary causes of road accidents in the UAE, with over 10 million violations recorded in 2024 alone, according to the Ministry of Interior. Authorities stress that excessive speed often leads to serious accidents such as vehicle rollovers, collisions, and cars veering off the road.
The best way to ensure your safety and that of others is by adhering to posted speed limits and avoiding sudden lane changes or distractions while driving. These small adjustments can significantly reduce your chances of being involved in an accident.
Speeding fines:
Driving more than 80 km/h over the speed limit: AED 3,000 fine, 23 black points, and 60-day vehicle impoundment.
Driving more than 60 km/h over the speed limit: AED 2,000 fine, 12 black points, and 30-day vehicle impoundment.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed International Road (E11): Reduced from 160 km/h to 140 km/h.
