Former U.S. President Donald Trump has concluded his high-profile Gulf tour and returned to the United States after visiting Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. The visit ended in Abu Dhabi, where he held key meetings with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Trump was given a ceremonial send-off at Abu Dhabi International Airport, accompanied by senior UAE royals and officials, including Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, National Security Advisor Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed, and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed.
As a gesture of honor, a fleet of UAE military aircraft escorted Trump’s plane as it exited the country’s airspace. Trump emphasized the deep friendship between the U.S. and the Gulf nations, and several landmark agreements were signed during his visit.
The UAE pledged to invest $1.4 trillion in the U.S. artificial intelligence sector over the next decade. Qatar signed a $42 billion deal to purchase U.S. military hardware, and the UAE and U.S. announced plans to invest $440 billion in the energy sector by 2035. Etihad Airways also confirmed a deal to acquire 28 Boeing aircraft.
Saudi Arabia committed to investing $600 billion in various U.S. sectors, focusing on military and medical research. Additionally, the U.S. agreed to supply the UAE with advanced weaponry worth over $1.4 billion and to establish a major AI-powered data center in Abu Dhabi with 5GW capacity.
However, Trump's pivot towards stronger Gulf alliances has unsettled Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Reports indicate growing discontent in Tel Aviv over the warming U.S. relations with Gulf states, especially given Trump’s recent statement supporting humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza.
Trump remarked that the people of Gaza are starving and expressed hope for "a lot of good things" to happen next month. He urged efforts to assist Palestinians, adding that both sides of the conflict should be considered. Israel, which halted aid to Gaza from March 2, was reportedly displeased with Trump's comments, especially amid its ongoing military escalation in the region.
These developments point to a shift in regional dynamics, with the U.S. strengthening ties with wealthy Gulf nations while signaling a more balanced approach to the Israeli-Palestinian issue—leaving Israel feeling increasingly isolated.
