Washington : After winning the US presidential election, Joe Biden said that he did not seek to divide but unify the American nation. During his speech in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, he stated that "I pledge to be a president who seeks not to divide, but unify, who doesn't see (Republican) red states and (Democrat) blue states, but only sees the United States."

Also he added that "It's time to put away the harsh rhetoric, lower the temperature, see each other again, listen to each other again, and to make progress, we have to stop treating our opponents as our enemies. They are not our enemies. They are Americans...This is the time to heal in America." Standing next to Biden, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris thanked the voters and said that "For Four years, you marched and organized for equality and justice, for our lives and for our planet and then you voted." Meanwhile Trump challenged Biden's victory and said that he won 71 million legal votes.
