37 Police Officers Injured In Protests Against French Security Bill

Paris : 37 police officers were injured during the protests against the new security bill on Saturday. Gerald Darmanin, Minister of Interior denounced in a statement all acts of violence against the law-enforcers as to tally unacceptable. As per reports, 133000 persons took part in the protest against the controversial bill. During the protest, the police forces used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protests at the Bastille square and other landmark sites in Paris. Many protesters were reportedly arrested. The legislation, passed by the National Assembly- the lower house of French parliament on last week still awaits final approval from the senate.  The bill sets in Article 24, a one-year prison term and a fine of EUR 37000 for sharing the images that could be deemed harmful for the physical or psychological integrity of police officers.
