REMITTANCES FROM EXPATRIATES FELL BY 400 MILLION DINARS

Kuwait City: Remittances from expatriates are down seven per cent last year. Remittances last year reached a total of 5.3 billion dinars, down 400 million dinars. The figures were released by the Central Bank of Kuwait. In the covid year, remittances from expatriates fell by 400 million dinars.


In 2019, 5.7 billion dinars was sent. The covid epidemic and the economic repercussions of that are set to lead to a sharp decline in remittances by 2020. Many expatriates lost their jobs due to the covid crisis. The salaries of tens of thousands of expatriates have been slashed. With this came a huge reduction in remittances.
