Kuwait City:  The law, which seeks to prevent sexual harassment and discrimination against women in the workplace, has been approved by the Board of Directors,  Abdullah Al Salman informed. He said it was a crime to discriminate on the basis of sex and age in public and private institutions in the country and strong action would be taken against such persons. Abdullah clarified. He said all existing labor laws were designed with the aim of ensuring social security and welfare and it was the responsibility of the government to ensure their safety as they face various forms of exploitation in the workplace.

Sections 198,199 of the Penal Code No. 16 of 1960 provide for the protection of women from sexual harassment in the workplace. Officials said the Public Authority of Manpower would directly investigate such complaints and cancel employers' files if any violations were found. The new law will not only cover those who work in such places, but also violence against women who come there for various purposes.
