Leading social media outlets Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, which went on strike seven hours later, have been reactivated.

Facebook-owned social media apps in various parts of the world came to a standstill around 9pm on Monday. The social media world was active again on Tuesday morning when the issue was partially resolved. But the problems of Facebook Messenger are not completely solved. Some WhatsApp users also complain that they are still having problems.

Activities, including sending messages on WhatsApp, were halted. Feeds on Facebook and Insta did not load. Shares of Facebook fell 5.5 percent.

Some technologists suspected that the company's internal problems were causing the apps to stall and that a coup was imminent. However, it is estimated that the domain name system (DNS) that connects users to the server is faulty.
