Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has asked the Lebanese ambassador to leave the country following an import ban. The Saudi ambassador to Lebanon has been recalled to the country. Following Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and the UAE recalled their diplomatic representatives from Beirut. It has also banned its own citizens from visiting Lebanon. At the same time, Oman and Qatar called for remedial action.

Saudi Arabia has announced tough measures following the release of a video of a Lebanese minister criticizing the Saudi-led Arab League's intervention in Yemen. The Lebanese ambassador to Saudi Arabia was asked to leave the country within 48 hours. It also blocked imports from Lebanon to Saudi Arabia and recalled the Saudi ambassador to Lebanon. He also advised Saudi nationals not to travel to Lebanon.

Within hours of Saudi Arabia's announcement, Bahrain took similar steps. Later, Kuwait and the UAE withdrew their diplomatic representatives from Lebanon.

At the same time, Oman's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that all countries should work to prevent problems from escalating and that differences should be resolved through dialogue in the interests of countries and peoples. The Qatari foreign ministry condemned the Lebanese minister's statement and called on the Lebanese government to take steps to resolve the issue.
