ELECTRIC BUSES EQUIPPED WITH ADVANCED CHARGING TECHNOLOGY ARE BEING TESTED ON PUBLIC ROADS

Dubai: On Saturday, the UAE's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) began a trial run of two Volvo 7900 electric buses.

The two buses will travel in both directions on a specific route between La Mer South, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Street, and Al Sufouh Tram Station.

According to RTA, the two buses are outfitted with the novel opportunity charging technology, which is being tested for the first time in Dubai.

The term "opportunity charging" refers to the situation in which buses are recharged not only at the depot but also at charging stations located throughout the network. In this case, buses are not required to return to the depot to be recharged.
