UNVACCINATED PEOPLE IN AUSTRIA ARE SUBJECT TO A LOCKDOWN

In Austria, approximately two million people who have not been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 have been placed under lockdown as the country faces a surge in cases.

"We are not taking this lightly, but it is unfortunately necessary," said Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg.

Unvaccinated people will be allowed to leave the house only for specific reasons, such as working or purchasing food.

Austria has one of the lowest vaccination rates in Western Europe, with approximately 65 percent of the population fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, the seven-day infection rate exceeds 800 cases per 100,000 people, making it one of the highest in Europe.

Overall, Europe has once again become the region most severely affected by the pandemic, with several countries imposing restrictions and issuing warnings about rising cases.

However, despite health leaders calling for rules such as mandatory face coverings in crowded and enclosed spaces to be reinstated to avoid a winter crisis, the UK, which has one of the highest Covid infection rates, has yet to reintroduce restrictions.
