FROM 2022, EMPLOYEES IN UAE WILL BE ABLE TO WORK FOR MORE THAN ONE EMPLOYER

Dubai: Employees in the UAE will be able to work for more than one employer beginning February 2, 2022, according to new labour laws announced on Monday.

Employees in the private sector may work part-time, temporarily, or in a flexible manner under Federal Law No. 33 of 2021, which governs labour relations.

Introducing new types of work, in addition to the regular full-time scheme, protects employee rights by allowing them to work in more than one job and use their skills in different ways.

Part-time employment allows employees to work for one or more employers for a set number of hours or days per week.

Temporary work can be a contract for a specific period of time or a project-based arrangement that ends when the job is completed.

In addition to the full-time work that is currently prevalent in the labour market, flexible work allows employees to work at different times depending on the conditions and requirements of the job. The new law's contract covers hours or days of performance that may vary depending on the employer's volume of work, economic variables, and operational variables.

Additional work models, such as self-employment and compressed work weeks, are expected to be implemented once the executive regulations governing the law's implementation are finalised.
