Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Police Department has decided to prohibit the movement of heavy vehicles, such as trucks and buses transporting workers, on Abu Dhabi Island in honour of the UAE's 50th National Day and in light of the country's celebrations. Beginning December 2, heavy vehicles will not be permitted to enter the island from the mainland. The prohibition will be in effect until Saturday, December 4th. Heavy vehicles are not permitted to use the island's four bridges, including the Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Sheikh Khalifa Bridge, Musaffah Bridge, and Al Maqtaa Bridge, which connect the island to the mainland. The roads will only be open to logistical support and public hygiene company vehicles. According to the authorities, traffic patrols have been deployed on all roads, and traffic flow will be controlled by smart systems.
