From Friday, North Korean citizens will be prohibited from laughing, drinking, or shopping as part of an 11-day mourning period commemorating the death of former leader and Kim Jong Un's father, Kim Jong-il.
"We must not consume wine, joke, or indulge in leisure activities during the grieving time," a North Korean from the northeastern border city of Sinuiju was quoted as saying by Radio Free Asia, according to The Telegraph.
According to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, if a member of one's family dies during the mourning period, they are not permitted to cry aloud, and the body must be removed until the grieving period has ended.
