Kuwait : Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and the emergence of the new highly transmissible Omicron variant, Kuwait's Health Ministry has decided to suspend all employee holidays beginning Sunday and lasting until the end of January.

Kuwait announced on Wednesday that it had discovered 12 more cases of Omicron in people arriving from Europe, bringing the total number of such infections in the country to 13.

If the number of Omicron cases increases, the country's health authorities will take several steps, according to Al Jarida newspaper, citing well-informed health sources.

These measures include the suspension of non-emergency operations, the opening of more wards and intensive care units, and the reintroduction of field hospitals, they said.
