BRITAIN CALLS IN MILITARY TO HELP HOSPITALS FACING STAFF CRUNCH

The Ministry of Defence in the United Kingdom announced that it has began deploying military personnel to assist hospitals that were experiencing staff shortages and extreme pressure as a result of the country's record COVID-19 cases.

For the next three weeks, the government has made 200 Armed Forces troops available to support the National Health Service (NHS) in London, according to the government.

The Omicron variety has caused a spike in coronavirus cases across the country, with over 150,000 new cases reported per day in the previous week. According to official data, it recorded 179,756 new COVID-19 cases and 231 new coronavirus-related deaths on Thursday.
