COVID, PRE-DEPARTURE TESTS WILL BE PHASED OUT IN ENGLAND

Following requests from the tourist industry, the government has announced that testing requirements for visitors visiting England will be relaxed. Fully vaccinated visitors to England will no longer be required to take a test before entering the country beginning at 04:00 GMT on Friday.

And, beginning on Sunday, instead of a PCR test on the second day of arrival, clients can opt for a less expensive lateral flow test. On arrival, the restrictions for self-isolation will also alter.

Boris Johnson had announced the changes, in response to complaints from travel companies that the restrictions were ineffective now that Omicron was spreading extensively.

All fully-vaccinated travellers above the age of 12 must produce documentation of a negative test lateral flow or PCR test taken in the two days before arriving in the UK, according to existing restrictions in effect until Friday. People who have been fully vaccinated must also pay for a PCR test within two days of arrival and self-isolate while waiting for the results.

People who aren't fully vaccinated are currently required to do PCR tests on day two and day eight of their arrival, as well as self-isolate for 10 days.
