THE WORLD'S OLDEST MAN DIED THREE WEEKS BEFORE HIS 113TH BIRTHDAY

Saturnino de la Fuente Garcia, the world's oldest man, died Wednesday at the age of 112 years and 341 days, according to Guinness World Records. He was declared the world's oldest living man when he turned 112 years and 211 days old, according to the London-based organisation, and was set to celebrate his 113th birthday next month.

 Due to his small stature, the 1.5 metre (4.9 foot) tall Spaniard, born on February 11, 1909 in Ponte Castro, Leon, escaped being drafted to fight in the 1936 Spanish Civil War and instead managed a thriving shoe business. He was the father of seven children, the grandfather of fourteen grandkids, and the grandfather of 22 great grandchildren.

According to the Guinness World Records website, the oldest person ever recorded was Jeanne Louise Calment of France, who died in 1997 at the age of 122 years and 164 days after being born in February 1875.
