France's fisheries minister has requested an investigation following the spilled of over 100,000 dead fish off the country's Atlantic coast. Environmental activists captured video evidence of a mass of bodies floating on the sea surface. The Margiris, the world's second-largest super trawler, was claimed to have had a "fishing incident" after its net collapsed, according to an industry statement. It was stated that the fish were blue whiting, a kind of cod. The missing fish will be subtracted from the vessel's quota, according to the statement. The environmental group Sea Shepherd France videotaped the fish on Thursday, claiming that they spanned an area of approximately 3,000 square metres (32,300 sq ft).
