RAYAN ORAM, A 5-YEAR-OLD MOROCCAN KID, DIED AFTER BEING STUCK IN A WELL FOR SEVERAL DAYS

The body of a 5-year-old Moroccan kid who had been trapped in a dry, 104-foot well for more than four days was brought out Saturday following a tedious but ultimately futile rescue mission that had the entire world fascinated.

Hundreds of people erupted in cheers, praise, and prayers as doctors carried the youngster, Rayan Oram, on a red stretcher through a perimeter of Moroccan police and soldiers to a waiting ambulance. His parents were close, waiting. 

However, minutes after the spectacular evacuation, the royal palace told state media that the boy had died before rescuers could reach him. Moroccan King Mohammed VI telephoned the parents, Khaled Oram and Wassima Kharchich, to express his sorrow.
