KUWAITIS AND NON-GCC ARABS MAKE UP THE MAJORITY OF GOVERNMENT PERSONNEL

Kuwait City: The proportion of Kuwaitis employed in the government sector has risen to 80 percent of all employees in this sector.


According to Central Statistical Bureau labour market statistics, employees from Arab countries (excluding the Gulf countries) placed second in the government sector behind Kuwaitis, with a total of 45,809, or 10.4 percent of total government sector employees. When compared to employees from other nations, their percentage is the largest. 

The overall number of employees from non-Arab Asian nations was 34,181, accounting for 7.8 percent of all employees.

The number of employees in the government sector who are citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council nations totaled 4,837, accounting for 1.1 percent of all employees. The remaining non-Kuwaiti staff were divided into groups from various nations. 

The number of government employees from non-Arab African countries reached 249, Europe 502, North America 425, South America 38, and Australia and New Zealand 39.

A notable feature is that 2,910 government employees were classed as "Not Shown" in the figures, despite the fact that they are non-GCC Arabs.
