VOTERS IN FRANCE PREPARE TO CAST BALLOTS IN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

  • 09/04/2022

On Sunday, French voters will cast their ballots in the first round of presidential elections. Recent surveys show President Emmanuel Macron's lead over his major adversary, far-right contender Marine Le Pen, has shrunk significantly.

Campaigning has already concluded, and voter turnout is projected to be lower than in recent French elections. Although the situation in Ukraine has overshadowed the contest, the major problem for many voters is the expense of living.

Mr. Macron and Mme Le Pen are the clear favourites, but there are ten other candidates vying to go to the second round on April 24.
