Kuwait City: At this time of year, the number of children admitted to paediatric emergency departments in public hospitals is still within normal range. According to sources, the number of youngsters admitted to hospitals throughout Ramadan and the Eid holiday rises owing to changes in meteorological conditions, particularly the gradual rise in temperatures, as well as a shift in food intake after Ramadan.

The majority of children admitted to hospitals in April and early May each year had stomach flu, influenza, high temperatures, bodily ache, skin rashes, vomiting, abdominal pain, respiratory infections, colds, migraines, and sinusitis, according to sources. Pediatric patients are urged to drink plenty of water in addition to pain medicines and fever reducers, according to sources.

According to sources, there have been no cases of hepatitis so far, and the Ministry of Health is continuing to increase epidemiological investigation efforts in accordance with WHO recommendations. During the Eid Al-Fitr vacation, health experts specialising in infectious diseases, critical care, digestive diseases, children, and others held online sessions to outline methods for dealing with any occurrence of hepatitis, according to sources.
