KUWAIT INTENSIFIES INSPECTIONS, 231 EXPATS DETAINED IN ONE WEEK FOR RESIDENCY VIOLATIONS

Kuwait City: The Home Ministry's security phone intercepted 1,942 communications last week, according to weekly figures from the public security sector. Last week, 650 security checkposts were set up under the supervision of Maj. Gen. Faraj al-Zoubi, assistant undersecretary for public security at the Interior Ministry. This led to the arrest of 20 people on the wanted list.


231 people were arrested for violating residence and employment laws through regular mobile security patrols and checkposts. 138 expatriates are reported to be absconding. 304 people were arrested without the required documents. In addition, 50 cases of drug possession and 11 factories manufacturing liquor were reported. A total of 2,055 traffic violations were detected. There were also 764 road accidents.
