IN THE LAST TEN YEARS, THE STATUS OF 18,000 BEDOUNS HAS BEEN ALTERED

Kuwait City: The Central System for Resolving the Status of Illegal Inhabitants (CSRSIR) has stated that it altered the statuses of 18,217 Bedoun residents between 2011 and the end of December 2021. Brigadier General Muhammad Al-Wuhaib, Director of the Status Adjustment Department of CSRSIR, stated that a total of 9,127 people had finished the procedures for modifying their status in all state entities. CSRSIR is currently investigating 9,090 cases in which the original nationalities were determined by the agency's departments. 


A passport, birth certificate, identity card, passport register, community statement, conscription book, statistics from the place of origin, and old government documents are used to make the determination (citing the nationality and departure notice). CSRSIR has alerted people affected, and procedures for altering their status are being followed. The statuses of 8,068 people have been changed to Iraqi nationality, 1,112 of them have finished the procedures, and 6,956 others are in the process of being changed.
