Andy Fletcher, keyboardist for Depeche Mode, has died, the band has confirmed.

"We are horrified and overcome with great sadness with the sudden departure of our dear friend, family member, and bandmate," the band said.

The letter went on to explain that the keyboardist had a "golden heart" and that their "hearts are with his family."

Fletcher, 60, was a founding member of the band, who achieved popularity with their dark electronic style, including the hit Personal Jesus.
