NASA PLANS TO LAUNCH THREE ROCKETS FROM PRIVATE SPACEPORT IN AUSTRALIA

  • 08/06/2022

NASA will launch a research rocket from a remote northern Australian spaceport later this month, marking the agency's first launch from a commercial spaceport outside the US.

On June 26, July 4 and 12, NASA and the launch pad's owner, Equatorial Launch Australia, will launch three suborbital sounding rockets from the Arnhem Space Center on Indigenous-owned territory near the mining town of Nhulunbuy in the Northern Territory.

The launch site was chosen because it is in the Southern Hemisphere and close to the equator.
