MEGACHURCH LEADER IN MEXICO HAS BEEN IMPRISONED FOR CHILD SEX ASSAULT

Naasón Joaqun Garca, the leader of the La Luz del Mundo megachurch, was sentenced to 16 years and eight months in jail in a Los Angeles court.

Garca, 53, pled guilty to three counts of sexually abusing girls in his congregation last week.

His plea agreement implies that his sentence will be much shorter than the life imprisonment he could have faced if he had been found guilty in a trial.

Naasón Joaqun Garca is known as "the Apostle" among his disciples.
