DOZENS OF COVID CASES HAVE BEEN LINKED TO BEIJING BAR

Officials claim a single pub in Beijing, China's capital, has been linked to 166 Covid illnesses.

The epidemic has been termed as "ferocious" by a government spokesman.

Over the next three days, all inhabitants in the region where the pub is located will be examined.

The frequency of infections in the city is low by international standards, but it is significant for China, the world's only major economy that still practises "zero Covid."

The epidemic was connected to a bar named Heaven Supermarket Bar in Chaoyang's well-known entertainment zone of Sanlitun.
