KUWAIT'S SALARY CAP MAY BE RAISED AS RESULT OF NEW VISA REGIME

Kuwait City: Following the unexpected decision to suspend issuing these visas on Monday, the Residency Affairs Sector will submit a new procedure to the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Ahmed Al- Nawaf, next week.

The resident affairs sector is proposing raising the wage ceiling for expats who wish to bring their wife and children on visit or family visas to 300 dinars, and to 600 dinars if the applicant wishes to bring his parents on visit visa. According to sources, the new mechanism will grant broad powers to directors of residency affairs departments in the six governorates in order to relieve pressure on the General Administration of Residency Affairs in the Dajeej area, where the number of visitors during the last period reached around one thousand per day due to the withdrawal of directors' powers.

The sources indicated that Minister Al-Nawaf’s decision to stop family and tourist visits came against the background of receiving complaints about the failure to organize the work mechanism for granting family and tourist visit visas to expatriates.

The Ministry of Interior announced that the issuance of family and tourist visit visas will be suspended until further notice in order to prepare a new mechanism dubbed "development of work" by the ministry, while sources stated that the decision "does not include electronic visas that are granted directly to some nationalities upon arrival at the airport."
