Dubai: The UAE is preparing to become the leader of the world in the field of space by making its own satellite and rocket components. In the first phase of this, indigenous components will be used more in the UAE satellites. The UAE will manufacture many key components of the MBZ-SAT multi-purpose satellite, which will be designed and built by indigenous scientists. The launch is next year.

For this, UAE company Strata Manufacturing and Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) have signed an agreement. More than 200 indigenous scientists and engineers are involved in the construction of satellite components using 3D technologies. Economic advancement is also aimed at developing satellite and rocket components on its own, undertaking space missions including those of foreign countries, and making it an international headquarters for space technologies.

It is expected that more than 30,000 crore dirhams will be gained within 9 years through various projects. Cooperation between public and private sectors will be ensured in the fields of maintenance of satellites, construction of small probes, robotic mining, launch vehicles and communication systems. After the successful Al Amal Mars mission and satellite launches, the country is gearing up for a Moon mission in November.

The next goal is to get closer to asteroids and Venus. Many countries have sought the help of the UAE following the boom in space. MBRSC Director General Salim Al Marri said that Strata is manufacturing the MBZ satellite's mechanical components.
