RUSSIA WILL RESTORE BLAST DAMAGE TO CRIMEA BRIDGE BY JULY 2023

  • 14/10/2022

By July 2023, the Russian government has instructed contractors to complete repairs to a crucial bridge that connects the country's annexation of Crimea.

Last Saturday, a blast that caused damage to the bridge is reported to have killed at least three people. Russia accused Ukraine of carrying out the attack, but Kiev has not admitted responsibility.

Heavy goods vehicles cannot use the 19 km (12 mi) bridge, which is Europe's longest and a vital supply route for Russian forces in Ukraine. Two of the bridge's four middle carriageways fell into the water as a result of the explosion, and the railway line was also hurt. The bridge has, however, been reopened for rail and light road traffic.
