KUWAIT'S INFANT MORTALITY RATE INCREASED IN 2021, REACHING A 10-YEAR HIGH

Kuwait City: The Central Statistics Department released the 2021 birth and death report. With regard to births, the statistics show that the birth rate of Kuwaitis is 24.63 percent, the birth rate of non-Kuwaitis is 6.04 percent and 12.23 percent of the total population. The number of births in government hospitals in 2021 is estimated to be 7,136 to Kuwaiti women and 14,053 to non-Kuwaiti women.


Births in private hospitals ranged from 27,089 to Kuwaiti women to 2922 to non-Kuwaiti women. The number of neonatal deaths in Kuwait in 2021 is 248, which is 7.11 percent. This is the highest rate in 10 years. Last year's infant mortality rate among Kuwaitis was 6.85 percent. Non-Kuwaitis were 9.72 percent and overall 7.79 percent, the report said.
