FAMILY VISA ISSUANCE WILL SOON RESUME, KD 500 SALARY CAP

Kuwait City: The Residency Affairs Sector, on behalf of the Ministry of Interior, will issue instructions to resume issuing family visas within the next few days.

"The first stage will cover children," they stated, "after which the process of allowing wives, mothers, and fathers to join their families in the country will gradually begin, based on the criteria to be determined by the ministry." The sponsor's monthly salary should not exceed KD 500.

According to the sources, this action follows the temporary suspension of visa issuance because the Ministry of Interior is keen to establish specific controls and procedures in this area to coordinate efforts to change the demographics and protect residents' rights to reunite with their families under specific controls.

The source claimed that the salary cap for infants and for humanitarian reasons is not used, that it is unknown when visitation and dependent visas will become available, among other things, and whether the salary condition will change—especially in light of a study that was submitted that claimed the salary cap should be raised.

Prior to the Ministry of Interior ceasing to accept dependent visa requests, many expat families had difficulty bringing their children who were born in their home countries, either because they had lost their residency or because their passports needed to be renewed.
