Citizens and residents intensify purchases of gold

Kuwait City: Figures issued by the World Gold Council revealed that citizens and residents in Kuwait increased their holdings of the yellow metal at remarkable rates during the past year 2022, while the first quarter of the current year 2023 witnessed the same purchase rates when compared on an annual basis.

The figures for the total purchases of gold by citizens and residents in 2022 showed that the market witnessed deals on about 18.8 tons of gold, an increase of 14%, at a value of 2.3 tons, compared to the purchases of the Kuwaiti market in 2021, which amounted to only about 16.5 tons. Citizens and residents bought 4.1 tons during the first quarter of 2023, bringing the total purchases during the 15-month period (the whole of 2022 and the first 3 months of 2023).
