The European Union expressed its regret over the executions that took place in Kuwait on Tuesday, one of which was for drug-related offences. Following the executions in November of last year, the European Union is concerned about the growing prevalence of capital punishment in Kuwait.

The European Union firmly stand against the death penalty. This is due to its inhumane nature, its lack of effectiveness in deterring crime, and its infringement of the fundamental rights to life and to human dignity, the European Union spokesperson Nabila Masrali said in a statement published on its official website.
