Sexual assault: Sri Lankan woman receives largest compensation in Middle East

A Sri Lankan domestic worker arrived in her country yesterday, coming from Kuwait, after receiving the largest compensation for a domestic worker in the Middle East after she was sexually assaulted by the son of her employer in Kuwait and became pregnant. 

The Sri Lankan newspaper 'Daily News' said that the Sri Lankan embassy filed a lawsuit against the employer in Kuwait, and after a long legal battle, the court offered her compensation amounting to 6.8 million Sri Lankan rupees (about 21,000 US dollars).
