MoH denies rumours about spread of schistosomiasis in some restaurants

The Ministry of Health denied rumors about the spread of schistosomiasis in some restaurants, stressing that no cases have been recorded in this regard. Pointing out that schistosomiasis is a parasite, and is usually transmitted by swimming in contaminated fresh water.


The Ministry said, with reference to what is being circulated about some cases of food poisoning, that it had monitored a number of cases of poisoning from a restaurant, and official measures were taken at the time to close the restaurant in coordination with the General Authority for Food and Nutrition, reassuring that the infected cases are limited, and all of them have recovered.
