Kuwait Records Shortest Fasting Hours in the Gulf This Ramadan

As the holy month of Ramadan begins, fasting hours differ across countries despite shared traditions. In the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, Kuwait has the shortest fasting duration, lasting 12 hours and 53 minutes. Oman follows closely with 12 hours and 56 minutes, while Saudi Arabia and the UAE record 12 hours and 58 minutes and 12 hours and 59 minutes, respectively. Bahrain and Qatar have the longest fasting hours in the Gulf, at approximately 13 hours.

Across the Arab world, fasting durations vary slightly. The Comoros records the longest fasting hours at 13 hours and 28 minutes, followed by Djibouti with 13 hours and 14 minutes. Countries like Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, and Morocco all have similar fasting durations of around 12 hours and 56 minutes. In Algeria, the fasting time extends to 13 hours and 3 minutes, while Yemen records 13 hours and 1 minute.

Globally, the variation in fasting hours is more extreme. Chile has the shortest fasting period at 12 hours and 44 minutes, followed by New Zealand with 12 hours and 46 minutes. On the other hand, Nordic countries like Sweden, Norway, and Finland have some of the longest fasting hours, reaching up to 21 hours in certain regions.
