The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has launched a road safety awareness campaign in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Interior, Dubai Police, and other entities. The initiative aims to educate drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians about safe road practices during Ramadan. As fasting may impact concentration, the campaign highlights the dangers of drowsy driving and emphasizes the importance of patience and caution on the roads. Additionally, RTA has outlined strict restrictions on truck movement in key areas, including Sheikh Zayed Road and Bur Dubai, to ease traffic congestion.
To further support road users, RTA will distribute 10,000 Ramadan gift kits to delivery drivers, cyclists, metro users, and e-scooter riders. Dubai taxi drivers, truck drivers, and bus drivers will also receive awareness pamphlets and Iftar meals as part of the campaign. The initiative aligns with Dubai’s Traffic Safety Strategy, reinforcing the importance of adhering to traffic laws and respecting fellow commuters to create a safer road environment.
Authorities have urged drivers to follow essential safety guidelines, including avoiding heavy meals before driving, maintaining a safe distance, and planning trips in advance to minimize delays. Drivers are also encouraged to remain patient, avoid confrontations, and foster a spirit of tolerance and kindness during the holy month. RTA continues to stress that road safety is a shared responsibility, urging all commuters to exercise caution and mindfulness while traveling.
