As part of a nationwide effort to eliminate begging, which often sees a rise during Ramadan, the Ministry of Interior has arrested 11 individuals, including 8 women and 3 men, from Arab and Asian backgrounds. These arrests were carried out near mosques and markets by the Department of Public Morals Protection and Combating Human Trafficking under the Criminal Security Sector. Investigations revealed that some violators had entered the country on visit visas, family residency permits, or under fraudulent labor arrangements. Strict legal actions are being taken against both the individuals and the companies responsible for their entry. Violators will be deported, and in cases where minors are exploited for begging, severe legal consequences will follow. Additionally, authorities are closely monitoring electronic begging on social media platforms in coordination with the Cybercrimes Department. Citizens are urged to report any such activities via dedicated helplines or the emergency number 112.
