Emirates Has Carried 90 Million Passengers to and from India Over 40 Years

Dubai: Emirates Airlines has announced that it has carried more than 90 million passengers between Dubai and India over the past 40 years, underscoring the long-standing partnership between the UAE and India.

This milestone was highlighted during the first official visit to India by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council. The visit aimed to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.

According to the Dubai Government Media Office (DMO), Emirates currently operates 167 flights a week connecting Dubai with nine Indian cities, showcasing the growing air connectivity between the nations.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, noted that India was one of Emirates' first destinations and shared that the airline has played a key role in strengthening ties between the UAE and India.

In a post on social media platform X, Sheikh Ahmed wrote, “We have served 90 million passengers to and from India to the UAE over 40 years, and this visit will pave the way for growth and cooperation between the two nations.”

The DMO further reported that six airlines now operate a total of 538 weekly flights between Dubai and 23 major Indian cities, reflecting the surge in travel demand. In 2024 alone, 12 million passengers traveled between India and Dubai International Airport (DXB).

India also led South Asian tourism to Dubai in 2024, with 3.14 million visitors from the region, highlighting strong economic, cultural, and tourism ties between the countries.
