Kuwait’s Interior Ministry Publishes Names of Homeowners Aiding Illegal Activities

As part of its intensified crackdown on drug trafficking and the local alcohol trade, Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has begun publishing the names of citizens who rent their homes for illegal activities. This includes properties being used for drug dealing or alcohol production, with rental amounts reaching up to 1,500 Kuwaiti Dinars per month.

Brigadier General Nasser Bousleib, Director of the Public Relations and Security Media Department and spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that this move falls under the ministry’s broader responsibility to protect families and society. “Publishing the names and photos of violators serves as a deterrent and reinforces the ministry’s mission to preserve lives,” he said during a presentation at the Government Communication Center titled “Laws - Numbers - Achievements 2025.”

He revealed that some of the houses being used for illegal activities are located in model neighborhoods. Owners often neglect to check on the activities happening inside their properties, enabling criminal operations that can lead to fatal outcomes from toxic alcohol or drugs.

The ministry emphasized that these unconventional measures are part of a larger 2025 strategic plan designed to adapt to Kuwait’s evolving social, economic, and technological landscape. The goal aligns with the broader vision of “New Kuwait 2035” by strengthening security and ensuring public safety through proactive and sometimes bold enforcement strategies.
