Kuwait City: Government and private schools will reopen in the new academic year (2021/2022), officials said. The cabinet approved the recommendation made by the education committee earlier. Schools will operate in accordance with the covid guidelines of the Ministry of Health. Schools in Kuwait are allowed to open only if a maximum of twenty children are admitted to a class. At the same time, the Board of Education recommended that students who have not been vaccinated should be given a PCR test result each week if they want to enter school. The circular will be forwarded to educational institutions soon, the local newspaper reported.

A high-level committee comprising health, media, home and other government officials will be formed under the leadership of the education minister to implement the recommendations, officials said. The committee will also decide on school return dates and steps to switch from online to offline modes. Authorities said they have decided to conduct training and awareness programs under the auspices of the health department to manage the health conditions in the school and to vaccinate as many students as possible before September.
