Kuwait City: The Ministry of Home Affairs has said that the Residency Affairs Sector of the Ministry of Home Affairs is not allowed to issue visitor visas and the final decision will be taken by the Residency Affairs Committee. The current practice is to switch to a computerized automated system after verifying the visit visa application received directly and online at various passport offices and then issuing a visitor's visa with the approval of the committee. The current practice will continue until another system is established.

Meanwhile, the ministry said the issuance of entry visas to married nationals and children of foreign nationals would continue in the residency affairs sector. The new proposal applies to business, family and tourist visit visas. In recent months, 3,800 Syrian nationals have been issued Article 24 (self-sponsored) visas. The ministry also said that the grace period would be extended to six months as no decision has been taken on charging fees to foreigners above 60 years of age.
